Since his inauguration, President John Mahama has taken decisive steps to drive Ghana’s growth. Here are five significant actions he has taken:
- Investigating Election-Related Incidents: President Mahama ordered the Ghana Police Service to investigate the 2020/2024 elections, focusing on the causes of deaths and injuries during that period. This move aims to maintain public trust in the government.
- Streamlining Governance: Mahama has suspended meetings of Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Chief Executives, as well as those of assembly members.
- Addressing Power Crisis: A 12-member committee, led by John Abdulai Jinapor, has been appointed to tackle the power crisis in Ghana. Jinapor attributed the power shortage to the previous administration’s failure to maintain adequate fuel reserves.
- Ministerial Appointments: President Mahama has announced his first ministerial appointments, with Felix Kwakye Ofosu, his spokesperson, distributing the list to the public on January 9, 2025.
- Government Restructuring: Mahama has reorganized the government, reducing the number of ministries from 30 to 23. This restructuring aims to facilitate smoother government operations.
