In a bold bid to transform Gomoa Central into a premier tourism hub, the Member of Parliament (MP), Kwame Asare Obeng, has revealed plans to construct an artificial waterfall in the constituency.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of the ongoing Gomoa Easter Carnival, a vibrant four-day celebration designed to showcase the region’s cultural heritage and stimulate the local economy.
A Vision Inspired by Global Innovation
Obeng noted that the project was inspired by his travels to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). He observed that international travellers often flock to artificial sites abroad-attractions that he believes can be successfully replicated and developed within Ghana.
“People travel abroad to see artificial sites, which can also be developed locally,” he explained. While Gomoa currently lacks a natural waterfall, the MP expressed confidence that the new project will be completed in time for the 2027 edition of the Easter festival.
The Gomoa Easter Carnival: A Cultural Showcase
The waterfall announcement comes amidst the excitement of the Gomoa Easter Carnival, which runs from April 2 to April 5, 2026. Organized in partnership with Multimedia Group Limited (Joy Prime), the event is part of a strategic effort to strengthen the constituency’s profile as a destination for cultural tourism.
The carnival features a diverse lineup of activities, including:
* Traditional Rites: A durbar of chiefs and masquerades.
* Community Spirit: A bonfire night and street performances.
* Local Economy: Food bazaars and art exhibitions supporting local entrepreneurs.

The festival has also drawn some of Ghana’s biggest musical talents. Performances from both established and emerging artistes have headlined the event, including:
* Kwabena Kwabena
* Shatta Wale
* Samini
* Kofi Kinaata
* Kuami Eugene
* Ofori Amponsah
By combining high-profile entertainment with long-term infrastructure projects like the proposed waterfall, Kwame Asare Obeng aims to position Gomoa Central as a permanent fixture on Ghana’s tourism map, ensuring that the economic benefits of the carnival extend far beyond the Easter season.
