The Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners has pledged a massive $5 million to support the national team’s preparations, marking one of the largest private contributions toward Ghana’s World Cup ambitions in recent years. The fundraising initiative was launched on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra. The event brought together government officials, football stakeholders, corporate leaders, and sports enthusiasts to rally support for the Black Stars. Dr Mahama’s contribution comes as the headline donation for the campaign. According to reports, his pledge is aimed at enhancing logistics, training, and overall team readiness ahead of the World Cup. The government has set an ambitious fundraising target of $30 million to ensure the Black Stars are fully equipped for the tournament. The funds will be used to cover training camps, international friendlies, equipment, and other essential preparations. The donation highlights the growing role of private sector involvement in Ghanaian football. With increasing financial demands in modern football, such contributions are seen as critical in maintaining competitiveness at the international level. Dr Mahama, known for his philanthropic efforts and business leadership, has once again demonstrated strong support for national development through sports. His company, Engineers and Planners, has been named the headline sponsor of the Black Stars fundraising campaign. The gesture has been widely praised by football stakeholders and the general public. Many see it as a patriotic act that could inspire other wealthy Ghanaians and corporate entities to contribute to the national team’s success. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Ghana qualified for the tournament and is preparing to compete against some of the best teams in the world. However, proper preparation requires significant financial resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fundraising campaign is expected to mobilize financial support from both the private sector and the general public. Organizers have urged Ghanaians at home and abroad to contribute whatever they can to support the Black Stars. The government has also pledged to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of the funds. Stakeholders have called for clear reporting on how the money is spent to maintain public trust and confidence in the campaign. Dr Mahama’s donation sets the tone for what could become a nationwide movement to rally behind the Black Stars. With the right financial backing, Ghana stands a stronger chance of making a deep run at the 2026 World Cup. The fundraiser is expected to attract further contributions from corporate Ghana, stakeholders, and fans. Several corporate organizations have already expressed interest in supporting the campaign. Football remains a unifying force in Ghana, and the 2026 World Cup presents an opportunity for the entire nation to come together in support of the Black Stars. The fundraising campaign is part of that collective effort. As momentum builds, all eyes will be on how effectively these resources are utilized. Proper planning, strategic use of funds, and strong team performance will be critical to Ghana’s success at the tournament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
