The DNA test story that had Ghanaians buzzing online was not real. Management for Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has come out to clear the air.

According to them, the entire narrative was part of a marketing strategy for his upcoming film.In a statement released to the public, Lil Win’s team explained that the DNA test storyline was designed to promote a movie titled “DNA,” which will premiere exclusively on Wezzyempire TV on YouTube. The announcement has left many Ghanaians feeling deceived, while others are applauding the creativity. “We wish to state categorically that these claims are completely not a reflection of a true and real incident. This is strictly a showbiz marketing strategy designed to promote Lil Win’s highly anticipated upcoming movie titled ‘DNA,’ which will be premiered exclusively on Wezzyempire TV on YouTube,” the statement read. The DNA test story had spread rapidly across social media, with many people believing it to be true. Details of the alleged test circulated online, sparking debates and speculation. Some fans expressed concern. Others made jokes. However, everyone assumed the story was real. Now that management has revealed it was all part of a promotional campaign, reactions have been mixed. Some Ghanaians are praising Lil Win for pulling off a successful publicity stunt. They argue that getting people talking is the whole point of marketing. Moreover, they note that the buzz around the story has already achieved its goal of drawing attention to the film. However, others feel manipulated. They argue that using fake personal drama to promote a movie crosses a line. According to critics, audiences deserve transparency. Furthermore, they worry that this kind of marketing erodes trust between entertainers and their fans.

This is not the first time Ghanaian celebrities have used controversial tactics to promote their work. Over the years, artists, actors, and musicians have staged public feuds, fake breakups, and dramatic social media posts to generate attention. Some of those stunts worked. Others backfired. For Lil Win, the strategy seems to have worked, at least in terms of visibility. The DNA test story dominated social media conversations for days. People shared posts, debated the details, and speculated about what it all meant. Whether that attention will translate into views for the movie remains to be seen. The film “DNA” is set to premiere on Wezzyempire TV, a YouTube channel that has become a popular platform for Ghanaian movies. YouTube has increasingly become a major distribution channel for local filmmakers who want to reach audiences directly without relying on traditional cinema releases. With so many films, songs, and shows competing for attention, entertainers are constantly looking for ways to stand out. Whether Ghanaians will forgive the deception or punish Lil Win by ignoring the movie is unclear. What is certain is that people are talking. And in the world of entertainment, sometimes that is all that matters.
