Thierry Nyann has had enough. The former TV3 sports presenter is tired of hearing lies about why he left Media General. So he took to Facebook and set the record straight in the most direct way possible. “Ask your bosses!!! I resigned not because privileges were taken away from me BUT because we all move on in life. They stopped me twice from resigning! I resigned TWICE!!!” he wrote in a fiery post that has since gone viral.

The post, spotted by Ameyaw Debrah Media, was aimed squarely at people inside TV3 who have been spreading rumours about his departure. According to Nyann, some staff members have been claiming that he left because the company stripped him of certain benefits or special treatment. He is furious about it. He called the rumour-mongers “stupid” and accused them of wasting time with office drama instead of focusing on their work. Furthermore, he made it clear that the entire narrative about privileges was nonsense. “Always spreading lies and stupidity!!! What privilege? Did I have access to TV3 bank account??? You talk anyhow. This nonsense will stop!!!!!!!” he wrote. The frustration in his words is obvious. For someone who spent years building a career as one of Ghana’s most recognizable sports journalists, having his professional decisions reduced to petty gossip clearly stung. Moreover, the fact that the rumours were coming from inside his former workplace made it worse. Nyann’s decision to resign from TV3 was not sudden. According to his post, he actually tried to leave twice before the company finally let him go. Both times, his bosses stopped him. They did not want him to leave. Eventually, he left anyway, not because of any privileges being taken away, but because he wanted to move forward in life.

Since his exit, Nyann has moved on to other opportunities. However, the gossip followed him. People inside TV3 continued to whisper about why he left, constructing narratives that had nothing to do with the truth. Finally, he decided he had heard enough and responded publicly. The post has attracted significant attention on social media. Many people have praised him for speaking up and defending himself. Others have criticized the office gossip culture that exists in many Ghanaian workplaces, where people waste time speculating about colleagues instead of minding their business. For Nyann, the message was simple and anyone who wants to know the truth can ask the bosses who tried to stop him. His closing words summed it up perfectly: “People should learn to accept facts and stop being stupid. GROW UP NKWASIAFUO.” The ball is now in TV3’s court. Will the company address the rumours circulating among its staff? Or will they let the gossip continue while one of their former stars defends his reputation online? For now, Thierry Nyann has made his position clear. He resigned and the rest is noise.
