Tonto Dikeh has had many eras. Actress. Activist. Philanthropist. Reality TV personality. And now, apparently, Evangelist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outspoken Nollywood star announced this week that after eight years, she is officially retiring the “King” prefix that became synonymous with her brand. From here on, she says, she is to be addressed as Evangelist Tonto Dikeh, a decision she described as a direct instruction from the Holy Spirit. She urged the public to honour the change and made clear that this is a new chapter rooted in faith. Nigeria had barely processed the announcement before her former best friend, actress Doris Ogala, arrived on Instagram with a very different perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Dey Deceive People With Nonsense Christianity”<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doris did not mince words. In a series of posts on her Instagram story, she took aim at a colleague she did not name directly but left absolutely no room for confusion. The hints were unmistakable: someone who just dropped “King” from their name, someone she claims has been masquerading as a born-again Christian while operating in the shadows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“No you for dey answer King. Ode. Dey deceive people with nonsense Christianity,” <\/em>Doris wrote, also accusing the person of being a gossip and a fake. She did not stop there. Doris made a startling spiritual claim that her unnamed colleague had “stolen her destiny” and was now physically beginning to look like her. She also alleged that this same person had been secretly fueling her very public and painful fallout with clergyman Chris Okafor, working against her from behind the scenes the entire time. Those who have followed Nollywood closely will know that this is not the first time Doris and Tonto have had a falling out. The two have been through cycles of closeness and conflict over the years. As recently as 2024, Tonto gifted Doris a new car, a gesture Doris made public while pointedly clarifying it was not a loan repayment. Shortly after, cracks began to show again. What makes this particular moment more charged is the timing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tonto is stepping into what she is framing as a spiritual rebirth, a public shedding of her old identity in favour of something quieter and more faith-based. Doris does not seem to believe the transformation is genuine.Tonto Dikeh has not publicly addressed Doris Ogala’s allegations. Whether she chooses to respond, stay silent or let her new evangelical identity speak for itself remains to be seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
