Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, took to social media to clarify that the decision on university fees is not made by the government, but rather by the University Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Agbana, the University Council, which was appointed by the previous Akufo-Addo government, is still in charge and responsible for determining fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that fees for each academic year are decided and approved by the University Council the previous year. For instance, the 2023\/2024 academic fees were decided and approved during the Akufo-Addo government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Agbana urged students not to jump to conclusions without understanding the source of the decision. He also called on the Minister of Education to review the high fees and find ways to reduce them for the benefit of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
