The Weija Police Commander has arrested a suspect, Jackson Ekow, a 41-year-old electrician, for allegedly stealing electricity power items worth approximately GH\u00a2156,000.00. Ekow is also accused of interfering with the transfer of electricity meters owned by the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Chief Inspector Joseph Barabu, the second offender, who is currently at large, was the caretaker of a 4-bedroom apartment in Accra. The caretaker allegedly connected electricity to the apartment without permission from the ECG.<\/p>\n\n\n

After receiving a tip, the ECG sent a team to investigate and disconnect the illegal connection. The caretaker was summoned to the ECG office to face the consequences of his actions but failed to comply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, the caretaker reconnected the electricity without ECG’s knowledge. He was subsequently arraigned in court, where Weija Court Leader Joshua Caleb Abaidoo granted him bail of GH\u00a212,000.00, pending his reappearance on December 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
