Down the years, the Ga South Municipal in which the Weija dam is embedded has recorded numerous flooding activities due to the opening of the dam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, there has been another massive flooding which has caused huge damage to the residents of the area. For the first time since 1991, four out of five spill gates were opened to protect the dam from collapsing and also protect lives and properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The outlet of the River Densu to the sea has been interrupted by the buildings constructed in the area.<br><br>The flooding was caused by the release of excess water from the prolong heavy rainfall which caused it&#8217;s normal level of 46.5 feet to an increase of 49.5 feet.<br>The areas that were massively affected include Oblogo, Tetegu, Ashalaja, Gbawe and Weija. Many houses have been reported flooded and the residents have been forced out of the areas.
