The Director of communications of the NPP Richard Ahiagba in a zoom meeting live on TV discussion regarding the fight of galamsey says the president is doing his very best to end the galamsey but most of the Ghanaians are supporting him in the fight to curb this menace.
Mr Ahiagba says the chiefs have to also come in play to help fight this problem. In contrary to Mr Ahiagba\u2019s statement, the Supreme Chief of the Ashanti region Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II said in his interview with on the same issue that, the chiefs do not have power just as the MPs and other government officials are making it seems like. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He sighted an instance where an illegal miner has an authorization from Accra to come to a certain community to mine. In a situation like this, the chiefs of that communities are tied, so those in power should play their role very well.
Mr Richard Ahiagba has also raised a strong statement that the opposition party which is the NDC is make the fight against galamsey very difficult. He said the former president John Dramani Mahama campaigned to bring back illegal mining if he is voted into power disregarding the destruction of water bodies and human lives at risk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said, towns that engage in illegal mining, most of these towns during the last election lost a massive count of votes to the NDC because they inculcated a counter fight to the current government if he is voted into power.
