The West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has been one of the examinations that enable West Africans to have access to each other\u2019s tertiary education since they share a common certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Decades ago, the strictness and discipline attached to this examination were recommendable. Students are able to write on their own, those who pass, progress to another academic phase while those who fail resit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In recent times, the narrative has changed. WASSCE has lost its genuineness for assessing students due to the leakages of questions and malpractices all over the countries writing the exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ghana\u2019s Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has accused the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) as the cause of this problem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWAEC should stop giving incentives, they should taste the coffee instead of staying far from it.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response to the porous state of the ongoing 2023 WASSCE, Ghana\u2019s Education Minister said, there are so many ways to curb this malpractice act for good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The problem is, because it\u2019s a West Africa thing, one country cannot decide on an absolute policy, the policy needs to go through so many channels for it to be implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
